Jin-su Kim (b. 1956, Gwangju, Korea) majored in western painting during his university years, and started his artistic career with his participation in The Art of Life by 105 Korean Artists (Kwanhoon Art Museum, Seoul, Korea, 1984) and Korean Art, Power of the generation of 20s (Arab Art Museum, Seoul, Korea, 1985). The first solo exhibition in 1985 was a target of the repression exercised by the authorities, and in turn his exhibitions in Seoul and Gwangju were reduced and canceled. Since then, he has focused on the establishment of Gwangju Woodcut Association (1987), printmaking movement, and the Gwangju Chonnam Artist Community (1989). He has participated in exhibitions such as The 15 Years of Minjung Art (MMCA, Gwacheon, Korea, 1994) and May 1980s Gwangju Minjung Art (Gwangju Museum of Art, Korea, 2013).
